Vintage wine : Barolo Docg Parafada 2016

“Now in the hands of the fourth generation, Massolino has slowly expanded its holdings, which include some of Barolo’s most hallowed sites. Purchased in 1958, the 1ha plot in Parafada comprises vines up to a century old on a steep, south-facing slope with very white chalky marl. The gorgeously fragrant nose of balsamic herbs, liquorice and pepper leads to a mouthful of mineral and stone with sweet berries in the background. Dense and powerfully structured with some fleshy fruit on its bones, this sophisticated Barolo should be tucked away for three to four years.”
